distributing porn to the masses since 1999
the blurb | garrett's ramblings
Garrett WalkerSorry it has taken me a while to get out this final edition, but frankly, I didn't want to do it. Today@, which started out with very humble beginnings, ended up being a huge part of my life and a chronicle thereof. Thanks to all who wrote in, I will respond shortly. Contrary to popular belief, I am not wrapping things up because of Maxine. I suppose I'd be lying if I said that she wasn't part of it, but it's a smaller part than people think. No, to find the real reason, you have to look no further than the fine print below, which starts "This daily newsletter thrives on the content submitted by its readers." In short, the content stream went from many to just a few, and from most, just a trickle. Now, don't get me wrong, this is fine (and I am sure I am partly to blame for that). But I mostly think that the original readership - my awesome friends from the Sapient days - simply all kind of grew up at the same time and lost interest in slinging internet humor around (holding on until well into our 30s is a job well done, I must say). The way people communicate has also changed, and the newsletter format that I love so much has truly gone the way of the dodo. Blogs, in the traditional sense of the word, are also dead so I see no point in converting to such a thing (an idea I toyed with). No, sadly facebook rules the day, and anything interesting that comes my way will be going out on my facebook page. If you want porn, this was never a good place to go for it, google images will do more for you than I ever did. Now, there are a reasonable number of people that I only met because of this experiment, and (not to sound like a high school yearbook) I really hope we keep in touch. If you're not on FB, please drop me a line every now and then and I will attempt to respond with better frequency than I normally do.

So what else can I say really. I wish that this had turned into something bigger, that I had done more with it when it was in its heyday. But all good things must come to an end and I must move on to other things. I'm contemplating new projects, but right now it is family and fishing (as you read this, I'll be on the ice). Thank you all for reading my useless ramblings and laughing at all the crap that has run through here, it was a good ride. I tracked over 7 million click throughs over the years. Even if the math is fuzzy, that's not bad. What else can I leave you with but the most popular link of all time on Today@ with almost 7000 unique click throughs: The Scotsman and The Queen.
